Information for patients and their families
The department has an integrated multidisciplinary team providing medical, nursing and rehabilitation care, together with emotional therapies that give tools for coping and recovery. Patients receive nutritional counseling, psychological counseling and support from social workers who specialize in older adults. Treatment includes physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy.

Who is the geriatric rehabilitation department for?
The department is for older adults who have experienced a decline in function following a medical event. The department admits patients after falls, fractures, strokes of varying severity, prolonged hospitalization and being bedridden due to acute illness or surgery.
Which treatments are given in the department?
Treatment includes physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, nutritional counseling, psychological counseling and support from social workers. Complementary medicine treatments such as reflexology, acupuncture, medical massage, breathing techniques, resilience workshops and bibliotherapy can also be added.
What does a typical day in the department look like?
Physician rounds take place from 08:00-10:00. Rehabilitation therapy is given between 08:00-12:00. Breakfast is served at 08:00-09:00, lunch at 12:30-13:30 and dinner at 18:00-19:00. Afternoon rest hours are 13:00-16:00.
What are the department's visiting hours?
Patients may be visited every day of the week. Sunday to Friday: 10:00-13:00 and 16:00-20:00. Saturday: 10:00-13:00 and 16:00-21:00.
How is the patient's treatment plan built?
The rehabilitation treatment plan is built precisely according to each patient's needs and updated on an ongoing basis. During the first two weeks, a multidisciplinary team meeting is held, followed by a conversation with the patient and family about the treatment goals. Before discharge, achievements and level of function are assessed to adapt the continuing plan.
